Native Safari Downloading on iOS
Starting with iOS 13 and continuing through iOS 18+, Apple Safari features a native download manager that allows direct file downloads without requiring third-party file organizer apps.
When you tap Download on DownThisX, Safari saves the MP4 file to your iCloud Drive or local Downloads folder, from where it can be transferred directly to your Camera Roll in two taps.
Transferring Downloaded MP4 Videos to Apple Photos
Once the download completes in Safari, tapping the download progress icon in the address bar reveals the file. Using the standard iOS Share Sheet, selecting "Save Video" transfers the MP4 directly into your Photos camera roll for editing, sharing, or offline viewing.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Copy Tweet Link on X App
Open the X app on your iPhone, tap Share beneath the video, and tap "Copy Link".
Paste and Process in Safari
Open Safari, visit DownThisX, tap Paste, and choose your preferred MP4 resolution.
Save to Camera Roll
Tap Download. Tap the Safari Downloads icon (down arrow in address bar), tap the video, tap Share (bottom left), and tap "Save Video".
Common Problems & Solutions
Problem: The "Save Video" option is missing in the Share Sheet
Solution: Ensure the file is a standard MP4 video. If the video was saved as audio or document, the Photos app cannot display it.
